Nobody got into real estate to write listing descriptions at 10 p.m. But that’s where a lot of the week goes. Marketing copy, social posts, follow-up emails. It’s the desk work that keeps a business alive and never shows up in the highlight reel.

The 2026 NAR Technology Report puts a number on it. 81% of agents adopt new tech for one reason: saving time. For years, most software failed that test. It cost too much, took too long to learn, and ate the hours it promised to give back.

Generative AI broke that cycle, and not because it was smarter. It was because you could just talk to it. No training manual. No onboarding webinar. More than half the industry now uses it, and it’s absorbing the three biggest time drains: listing descriptions, social content, and client follow-up.

Compare that to crypto. Years of headlines, and 98% of agents have never used it in a transaction. Crypto is the Betamax of this story. Great press, no place in the actual workflow.

Here’s the part I care about most. The goal isn’t to automate the relationship. It’s to get the typing off your plate so you can spend those hours with the people you serve. Technology should amplify judgment, not automate empathy.

In this video, in which NotebookLM helped me create, we walk through the data and what it means for how you run your week.
